Merge IT has a client seeking a Python Automation Developer who has a software engineering approach to delivering automation – balancing various concerns such as security, maintainability, testing, re-usability, and resiliency in a hybrid on-site/remote role in Knutsford, UK. In this position you will be Hands-on, results-oriented, delivery-driven individual requiring minimal guidance; Track record of successful project involvement. Experience of working on large, multi-threaded, globally distributed and complex projects.

Basic Qualifications:

• Significant experience in infrastructure automation in a complex environment – using a combination of approaches (as detailed below) and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

• Experience in software development – production ready APIs and application code – Python3. Go is a plus.

• Experience with IaaC tools such as Ansible (Ansible Automation Platform) , Chef, Terraform – creating robust code for infrastructure automation at scale.

• Experience in architecting, building and maintaining cloud-native applications. Event-driven, microservice based architecture. Technologies we use include Openshift and Kafka.

• Experience with CI/CD tooling – Jenkins, GitLab.

• Excellent knowledge in alerting, logging, monitoring frameworks and how to build observability into the applications to ensure they emit the right kind of telemetry enabling quick recovery from failure when that occurs.

Role Description:

• Takes a software engineering approach to delivering automation – balancing various concerns such as security, maintainability, testing, re-usability, and resiliency.

• Must have a good understanding of infrastructure automation tooling, architecture and design patterns.

• Has a proven track record of delivering transformation at scale, moving legacy applications to a cloud native architecture, and working with various distributed and cross-functional teams to do so.

• Has DevSecOps / DevOps / SRE mind-set and has demonstrable experience in implementing continuous integration & continuous delivery best practices.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

• The candidate will need to regularly communicate with senior executives and key stakeholders across the firm in order to present new initiatives, provide feedback on current projects and lead on issue resolution.

• Ability to prioritize, work in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment; Ability to identify, communicate and provision for project risks
