Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Business Analyst with expertise in Practice Management (PM) systems and Point of Sale (POS) processes. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with the NextGen PM system, with a strong focus on analyzing, implementing, and optimizing interfaces between NextGen and external Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, understanding business needs, and ensuring seamless system integration and workflow enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Requirements Gathering and Analysis:
· Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document detailed business and technical requirements.
· Analyze workflows and processes within PM and POS systems to identify opportunities for improvement.
· Translate business needs into functional and technical specifications for development teams.
1. System Expertise:
· Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on the NextGen PM system, including its configuration, functionality, and reporting capabilities.
· Work on integrating NextGen PM with external EMRs, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
· Provide insights and recommendations to optimize the use of NextGen PM for practice management and billing.
1. Interface Management:
· Design, test, and deploy interfaces between NextGen and external EMRs, ensuring seamless data exchange.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to interface performance, compatibility, and security.
· Work closely with vendors and IT teams to implement and maintain system integrations.
1. Project Management and Collaboration:
· Act as a liaison between business units, IT teams, and third-party vendors to ensure project goals align with business objectives.
· Participate in project planning, timeline management, and milestone tracking.
· Facilitate workshops, meetings, and training sessions with stakeholders and end-users.
1. Testing and Validation:
· Develop and execute test plans for new features, system updates, and interfaces.
· Validate system configurations and ensure they meet documented requirements.
· Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and provide guidance during go-live and post-implementation phases.
1. Documentation and Training:
· Create comprehensive documentation for system processes, workflows, and configurations.
· Develop user guides and training materials to support staff in using NextGen PM and integrated systems effectively.
· Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing support to end-users.
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
Experience:
· 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in healthcare or a related industry.
· Strong hands-on experience with NextGen PM and POS systems.
· Proven expertise in integrating PM systems with external EMRs.
· Solid understanding of healthcare billing, scheduling, and revenue cycle processes including coding, payment posting, claims submission, payment processing, claim, and denials management.
Technical Skills:
· Familiarity with X12, HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare data exchange standards.
· Proficiency in querying and analyzing data using SQL or similar tools.
· Experience with interface engines like Mirth Connect is a plus.
Soft Skills:
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
· Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams in Agile and SAFe project environments.
· Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP) or NextGen-specific certifications.
